There are a number of reasons why your broadband speed can slow.  Try the following:

1. In Internet Explorer go to Tools, Internet Options and Delete Cookies, Temporary Internet Files and clear the History.

2. Run an anti-spyware and anti-virus scan of your PC as spyware and viruses can slow the connection down. If your anti-virus program is using active scanning, try turning this off to identify whether this is causing the slow speed issue.

3. Remove any Peer to Peer software, such as Kazaa, Bit Torrent, Bit Comet or Azureus, as these programs can also slow the connection down when active.

4. If using Internet Explorer 7, try disabling the Phishing filter to identify whether this is causing the slow speed issue:



5. If you are sharing a connection over a network, the bandwidth is also shared resulting in slower download speeds. Disable any non essential network connections before continuing.

6. If connecting using a wireless connection, try connecting using RJ45 cables instead to rule out problems with the wireless connection.

7. Run the speed test at ADSL Guide and send us the results in your reply to the mail sent from Tesco broadband technical support.
