Why do I need the Tesco internet access connection software?

Tesco internet access connection software ensures that you always have the correct dial up number regardless of which Tesco internet access package you use. The software enables us to provide a more consistent quality of service, and if you change your package the software updates to the appropriate telephone number automatically.

How do I download the new Tesco internet access connection software?

If you are using a PC, simply connect to the internet with your existing Tesco internet access connection software and this will automatically download the necessary update. The next time that you disconnect and relaunch the Tesco internet access connection software, you will be using the new version of the software.

Why has my Tesco internet access connection software been updated?

Tesco internet access connection software has been updated in response to a number of queries and requests for improvement from our customers. The new software is smaller and more reliable than the previous versions, and it includes some useful new functionality. Why does the phone number contain asterisk symbols?

The Tesco internet access connection software contains a selection of telephone numbers to make sure that your internet connection is established correctly. The asterisks are just part of the number. The numbers being dialled are no different from those used previously, and there are no changes to any of the charges for your service.

Why is there a Tesco internet access icon in my system tray when I am connected?

The Tesco internet access system tray connection icon replaces the standard Windows connection status icon. When your modem is sending and receiving data, green arrows either side of this Tesco internet access icon will flash on and off. If you place your mouse cursor over the Tesco internet access connection status icon, you will see the usual information about the time spent online, plus data sent and received.

How do I “unsave” my password?

Remove the password from the password field on the front screen of the Tesco internet access connection software and also untick the box labeled “Remember password”. Close the connection software and relaunch it, and you will see that the password is no longer stored.

What does the “Work Offline” button do?

If an internet application needs to go online, it will cause the Tesco internet access connection software to appear and display a Connect button and a Work Offline button. If you do not wish to connect at this point, click Work Offline to stop the dial-up request. For example, you could use this function if you wanted to view a previously saved website using internet explorer, without going online.
