For subscribers who have ordered a Tesco modem kit, follow the six easy steps in the instruction guide to install the modem.
* If you are a Sky user you will need a filter between your Sky set-top-box and the telephone socket.
When Tesco broadband is enabled on your telephone line; all the telephone sockets in your house are broadband enabled. The voice or telephone signal can interfere with the broadband signal and make the line sound crackly. Filters filter out this crackle and allow you to make normal voice and fax calls at the same time you're online with your Tesco broadband connection. Filters need to be used on every socket in your house into which you have something plugged in*. For example telephones, faxes or alarm systems will all need a filter between them and the phone socket they use once Tesco broadband is enabled.

Some operating systems such as Windows XP allow multiple users to share a single internet connection. Tesco does not provide technical assistance for networking your computers but does not prohibit connection sharing.
An ADSL modem is a special type of modem designed for use with high-speed broadband. Your current dial-up modem is not suitable for use with Tesco broadband as they cannot support high data speeds. The Tesco broadband modem is easy to install and will come with step-by-step instructions and full customer support. It is recommended that you keep your dial-up modem as you may need it in the future to access the broadband back up service.
Tesco recommend that you install both firewall and anti virus software in order to protect your computer and your content.
You will need to configure you Dial-up Network (DUN) Settings by taking the following steps:-
You will need to begin from your computer's desktop, which is the first screen that you usually see when your computer has fully started.
If you need to use connect using dial-up instead of Tesco broadband, ensure that your dial-up modem is connected to the telephone socket and to the power supply if it is an external modem. Then select the Dial-up Networking icon on your desktop and choose the back-up number from the drop-down menu. Any internet calls made using this number will be charged on your BT bill.
